These questions would be better suited to pvfs-users rather than 
pvfs-developers.

Yes, you can share directories with PVFS.  I am not aware of anyone trying 
to share a root directory using PVFS.  I would not suggest that.  I would 
point you to other alternative, such as NFS or GFS, instead.  They are 
perhaps better tailored to that use model.
