Ok,

Assuming we take out the wrappers (which hasn't been decided quite yet),
do we want to change the semantics of the pvfs_xxx() calls?

Specifically, it is still useful for these calls to be able to access
non-PVFS files, or is no one using this?  It would certainly clean up the
code to remove this functionality (which would lead to better portability
and clarity).

I apologize for double-posting these votes, but I feel like both the users
and the developers (or is everyone on both lists?) should have a say in
this.
