This has been discussed on the mailing list several times.  Redhat made
changes to their kernels which modified some kernel structures, and
broke various things.  Try applying the patch at
http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~robl/pvfs/redhat-ntpl-fix.patch.gz to your
pvfs-kernel source tree.
