It's too late for us to make murali fix this :> 

This patch set breaks the "append" nightly test -- but only for
certain kernels (debian testing 2.6.16-2-i686-smp) and only for
certain states of the file system.   When we try to append to a file,
we get "permission denied", however appending *after* all the nightly
tests run appears to work just fine.
