This doesn't quite fix the problem I looked at it outside rpmbuild and
it worked.
With rhel5 in an rpmbuild by default the -O2 gcc flag is passed when
this happens the -fstrict-aliasing flag is enabled and putting the
-Wno-strict-aliasing doesn't quite work. *sigh*...
