[PVFS2-users] slow LD step when compiling

When I compile PVFS2 in a PVFS2 file system I notice that the loader
(LD) step is very very slow.  It is more than 50 times as slow as on a
local disk.  My configuration is fairly straight forward: 11 io and
metadata servers and 1 client.  Are there any configuration parameters
I might tweak to try to improve the situation?  Any ideas about why
linking an executable would be so slow with PVFS2?

Just for reference:  I can compile PVFS2 in 4 minutes on a local disk
and in 266 minutes on a PVFS2 files system constructed using the same
types of disks.
