Hi Larry,

This completely depends on the workload.  If your workload doesn't have a 
lot of metadata traffic, then one metadata server will be more than 
adequate.

If your workload spends all its time ls'ing the file system tree, then you 
would possibly want more metadata servers (if it's a *parallel* workload 
and it would help), and you would also probably want to change how data is 
distributed to cut down on the cost of file stat gathering.
