Hi
I just wanted to note for the archives that if you are running a stock
kernel.org 2.4 kernel on a redhat system, you might find yourself
wondering why mounting PVFS2 doesn't seem to work.
If pvfs2-ping says everything is fine, and you can load the kernel
module w/o any errors, but dmesg has a line with
pvfs2_get_sb - wait timed out
you might have to set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL to 2.4.1 before starting
pvfs2-client and pvfs2-client-core.
If you don't pvfs2-client-core will try to use the NPTL thread library
and segfault. Then pvfs2-client will helpfully restart
pvfs2-client-core right away, when it will once again segfault.
repeat.
I've tried to document this a little bit at
http://www.pvfs.org/pvfs2/pvfs2-faq.html#sec:nptl_and_mounting
