Honestly?  Nuke all the stuff the 'roll' did and start from scratch,
following the instructions in the PVFS2 Quick Start guide.  Things on
your systems just seem highly confused.  /mnt/pvfs2 is a *client* mount
point, not where any configuration files for the server should be
pointing.  All of the server config files should be pointing at
something like /pvfs2-storage-space or some _other_ directory.
