We just run it pretty simple-mindedly: 

fstest -p /pvfs2-nightly/fstest

and on gil, our output was 
num_children=1 file_size=1048576 num_files=1 loop_count=100
block_size=1024
mmap=0 sync=0
Total data size 1.0 Mbyte
Child 0 loop 0
Child 0 loop 1
num_children=1 file_size=1048576 num_files=1 loop_count=100
block_size=1024
mmap=0 sync=0
Total data size 1.0 Mbyte
Child exited with status 1
fstest failed with status 1

There were no errors in dmesg.  It looks like maybe now the server is
dying?  I'll explore a bit more, but we get a lot of 'connection
refused' messaes in pvfs2-client.log
