Hi Joy,
There is a migration tool that has to be run on the storage spaces to
upgrade to 1.5.1 from previous versions. It was new with 1.5.0
(included in the pvfs2 release). There's more information about it here:
http://www.pvfs.org/pvfs2/pvfs2-faq.html#SECTION000616000000000000000
For most storage spaces, the migration tool does its job, but since the
1.5.1 release, we've uncovered two bugs that showed up while migrating
large storage spaces. Those bugfixes will go out in the next release
once we've been able to do some more testing.
I wish I could tell you that it was perfectly stable in the first
release, but its not, so you have two options:
A) wait for the next release with the bug fixes I mentioned.
B) run the migration tool with 1.5.1 on your storage space. The first
thing the tool does is to backup your storage space, so if the migration
fails at some point, you can revert to the backed-up version and go to
option A.
Let us know how things go if you do decide to migrate.
Thanks,
-sam
