The patch fixes absolutely the problem :-) Thanks a lot!

Regarding pvfs-2.1.6, I noticed that the mpich2 compiler
wrappers mpif90/mpicc did not include "-lcrypt -lssl" when
mpich2 (1.0.4 or 1.0.5) was built with Intel icc instead
of gcc! These libs were required by libpvfs2.a when
MPI-IO is used to access the pvfs2 volume.
