[Pvfs2-users] pvfs2 question

hi
I am reading the documentations of PVFS2,
let's say we have two servers that connecting  to some storage array
on IP network there are  many client nodes.
I understand how clients can access these PVFS2 through pvfs2-client and 
servers that run pvfsd.
questions:
How are the jobs in server node access PVFS2?
e.g. can pvfs2-client and pvfsd run in the same node? (docs seems not 
recomment it)
