Hi Brad,

Is there any chance that you could try 2.8.1?  If you need to stick with 
2.7.1 for now I could create a patch that just updates the bmi_mx code. 
  There have been a few significant bug fixes since 2.7.1, so it might 
be a good idea to rule those out first.
