[Pvfs2-users] Too many open files error

What does this command

$ cat /proc/sys/fs/file-nr

gives you on one of the nodes presenting this error?
For reference, this is on my desktop:

2464    0       205737

And on a heavily used pvfs2 node:

704     0       1604706
